Learn How to be a Blacksmith

Our Blacksmith Experience Day takes place in our Victorian forge and is led by an experienced blacksmith. You will learn the skills and basic techniques of the traditional blacksmith and make your own simple hand-forged object to take home. You will be shown how the forge works and will use an anvil, in what will be an extremely enjoyable yet physical experience. No previous experience is necessary.

Please bring your own packed lunch or purchase a light lunch in our Skippings Barn (please note our catering facilities will be closed on days that the Museum is not open to the general public).


Practical points

Please wear clothes made from natural materials, long trousers and long sleeves

Please wear leather, closed fronted shoes or boots

Apron, gloves and safety glasses will be provided

This experience day will have a maximum of two participants.


How to Book

The course runs from 10.30am until 3.30pm

The cost of the Course is £160 per person or £260 for two people
