Our Mrs Tiggy-Winkle literacy workshop
This workshop lasts for two hours and is loosely based upon the Beatrix Potter story of Mrs Tiggy-Winkle: children will have the opportunity to take part in a typical Victorian washday as part of this workshop.
We include a 15 minute ‘snack and comfort break’ within the timetable to ensure that Early Years groups are able to access this programme enjoyably.
The workshop will begin with an interactive re-telling of the story. During the workshop the children will visit Mrs Tiggy-Winkle’s cottage and help her wash clothing belonging to the characters within the story. They will create a simple craft to take home. Please bring a cardboard box to transport these safely back to school.
This workshop is suitable for Early Years and KS1.
Children will:
- Listen and engage with the story of Mrs Tiggy-Winkle
- Learn about and take part in a Victorian Wash day
- Make a simple craft to take away
A snack time is built into the workshop so that the children are able to have a short break.
