Job Title: Visitor Services Assistant

Hours: 9.30am – 5.15/5.30pm every-other Sunday

Salary: £8.91/hour

Contract: Seasonal, Zero Hours

Job Description

You will be responsible for welcoming visitors to the Museum, selling admission tickets and actively promoting Annual Pass and retail sales. Being enthusiastic and well informed about the Museum, you will provide key information to our visitors, offer advice and answer questions. You will deliver exceptional customer service to all our customers and strive to consistently go beyond our visitors’ expectations. Working closely with the Retail Supervisor, you will work to targets in visitor service, membership and retail. You will take pride in the fact that our ticket office and shop are consistently presented to a high standard and make sure displays and information boards are tidy and up to date. During quieter periods, you will provide admin support for the office, respond to customer enquiries online and assist with group booking administration.

• Welcome all visitors on arrival and provide advice, guidance and information to enhance their experience
• Sell tickets, memberships and items from the gift shop through competent use of the Museum’s EPOS system
• Actively drive the commercial activity of the Museum by promoting and selling gift shop items, souvenir guides, admission tickets and memberships
• Support the Retail Supervisor with stocktaking, pricing, restocking shelves and visual merchandise
• Engage with visitors informing them about current and upcoming events, activities and exhibitions enabling them to enjoy the Museum’s offer
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of the Museum’s work and objectives to actively promote donations to the cause
• Work with and support ticket office volunteers
• Open and lock the ticket office
• Maintain high presentation standards in and around the ticket office and shop, keeping the general area tidy and clean, and reporting any deficiencies
• Work with and supervise the Visitor Services Volunteers, making sure they are supported, comfortable and well informed during their shift
• Provide a warm welcome and appropriate assistance to the Museum’s Volunteers
• Understand and follow the Museum’s operational, health and safety and cash-handling procedures.
• Provide admin support for the office including responding to enquiries and assisting with group booking administration

• Comfortable working with the public including vulnerable adults and children
• Reliable and punctual
• Excellent eye for detail
• Professional and smart appearance at all times
• Willing to learn and develop.

Desirable

• Experience of working with volunteers
• Experience of working with EPOS systems
• Experience in customer service and/or sales environment
• Good IT skills
• Passionate about Chiltern Open Air Museum and our cause
• Foreign Language skills
