Chiltern Open Air Museum is running a Houses Inhabited project, funded by the Arts Council, which aims to put volunteer costumed inhabitants in the museum’s residential buildings to increase the engagement and experience of visitors. We are looking for an experienced costume maker to lead a team of volunteers to make costumes for the stewards.

As part of the project we have funding for materials to make a selection of Iron Age costumes, 19th century costumes and 20th century war and post war costumes. The post holder will use the project brief to select the materials and patterns to purchase and will work with, co-ordinate, guide and assist a team of volunteer costume makers in the production of the costumes. Our volunteer costume makers meet onsite roughly every couple of weeks and will continue their projects at home. Working with our Volunteer Coordinator, you will engage volunteers in the project and help recruit new ones.
